Post signs ASAP - a minimum of 30-50 signs in at least a 2-mile radius. Put “Do Not Chase” on the signs and ask for sightings. (See examples on CatchingPaws). Beware of scammers who claim to have your dog - do not respond to anyone asking for a ‘code’/money. Ignore any comments telling you to contact a pet rescue/drone service on Instagram - another scam. Check shelters in person daily - ask to see recent intakes; bring a photo with you - leave flyers there and at all surrounding vet offices/ER vets, where someone may take your dog for a chip scan. If microchipped, report your dog missing to the chip company; update/confirm your contact info. If missing from home, leave some articles of your unwashed clothing, shoes, pillowcases/blanket and your dogs bed outside for her/him to smell home. Change the clothing out daily to keep the scent fresh. Leave a gate open for them.
